UK: PM Boris Johnson to face questions from the public in a live radio phone-in
on LBC from 0900GMT (0400ET, 1000CET).
- Johnson likely to face questions on the NHS and Brexit from the public, but
media focus on Johnson's no-show at a Channel 4 debate last night on climate
change.
- PM and Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage (who was also a no-show) were
'empty-seated' and instead represented by ice sculptures.
- This sparked a row between the Conservatives and Channel 4, with the PM's
party complaining to the communications regulator that the sculptures were a
"provocative partisan stunt, which would itself constitute making a political
opinion in its own right".
- Conservative source told Buzzfeed and Telegraph that "if we are re-elected we
will have to review Channel 4's Public Services Broadcasting obligations". But
this morning Minister Gavin Williamson denied any threat to C4.
