PM Vote May Be Next Week, Baht Stronger This Week

Political uncertainty continues in Thailand with the formation of a new government still some way off. But USDTHB is up 1.1% so far this week and currently around 34.08. The timing of the next vote for PM depends on the Constitutional Court.

  • House Speaker Wan has said that the Constitutional Court is expected to announce its decision on whether to accept a petition regarding renominating PM candidates on August 3, according to the Bangkok Post. If it is rejected then another vote for PM can take place on August 4, but if accepted then the vote will need to wait until the court decides, which could be a week later.
