POLAND: NBP's Wnorowski Sees No Rate-Cut Talk Until 2Q-2025

Polish policymaker Henryk Wnorowski said a discussion about cutting interest rates in the European Union nation may only start in the second quarter of next year at the earliest after inflation peaks, Bloomberg report. 

  • “I wouldn’t expect a serious rate cut discussion earlier than in the second quarter,” Wnorowski said Monday. He ruled out tightening, saying a debate about rate hikes would only be theoretical. 
  • According to PAP, Wnorowski said in an interview yesterday that the central bank may consider reducing borrowing costs when inflation stops accelerating and is past its peak, or in 2H 2025 as per the inflation projection.
