Poland’s PGE Ups Renewable Output, Coal & Gas Falls

Polish firm PGE increased its renewable output on the year in 1Q24, while its production from fossil-fuel power plants declined, according to its quarterly preliminary results.

  • Net power production declined by 7% on the year in 1Q24 to 14.6TWh mostly due to less production from coal and gas power plants.
  • Power output from hard coal and gas declined by 12% and 3%, respectively, on the year to 4.32TWh and 1.44TWh. Power output from brown coal fell 7% on the year to 7.63TWh.
  • In contrast, output from hydro pump storage and wind plants climbed by 10% and 4%, respectively, to 0.32TWh and 0.59TWh.
  • Rotterdam coal June 24 up 0.1% at $106.85/t at the time of writing.
  • EUA DEC 24 up 0.5% at €70.56/t CO2e.
