Polish EU Minister Says Recovery Funds Could Be Transferred In 2H2023, Economic Data Eyed

  • Poland's EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek said in an interview that Poland has met "almost all" milestones for unlocking post-pandemic EU aid. The official suggested that the most "realistic" timing for the transfer of money is the second half of the year, albeit the decision on filing the formal application rests with the Prime Minister.
  • Main opposition Civic Platform leader Donald Tusk urged other opposition parties to close ranks and run on a single list in the next general election, but his call was met with cold reception. Recent source reports suggested that idea of forming a single list has become less popular among opposition leaders amid concerns over the feasibility of such a broad electoral coalition.

Consensus looks for a deceleration in PPI growth to +19.4% Y/Y, with industrial output growth expected to worsen to +1.7% Y/Y and the expansion in retail sales seen slowing to +17.8% Y/Y.
