Poll Shows Greatest Support For Scottish Independence Since 2011

Latest Scottish independence opinion poll from Panelbase shows support for Scottish independence at its greatest level since regular polling on the issue began in 2011:

  • Yes to independence: 55% (+3), No to independence: 45% (-3), 12 - 18 Aug (Chgs. w/ 05 Jun)
  • Opinion polls in Scotland have shown widespread support for the Scottish gov'ts handling of the COVID-19 crisis, compared to severe disappointment with the actions of the Westminster gov't during the pandemic.
  • The next Scottish parliamentary elections are due in May 2021. There is the prospect that should First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's pro-independence Scottish National Party win a majority could seek to force another independence referendum. However, there is no legal route to force Prime Minister Boris Johnson's gov't to deliver a vote.
