CANADA: Population growth is seen as crucial to GDP growth and providing
fundamental demand to strained Toronto and Vancouver housing markets, and it
rose 0.2% in Q1 as Covid-19 travel restrictions took hold.
-That's still the slowest Q1 growth since 2015, and likely to moderate further
as immigration flows stymied by the pandemic.
-"International migration accounted for 82.3% of Canada's population growth in
the first quarter" Statistics Canada said Thursday.
