Largely negative sentiment following last night's Biden-Trump presidential debate has seen European equities and US futures head lower. In Europe, leisure/travel stocks and tech have led the move lower.

  • Asian stocks closed mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI down 353.98 pts or -1.5% at 23185.12 and the TOPIX down 32.61 pts or -1.97% at 1625.49. China's SHANGHAI closed down 6.307 pts or -0.2% at 3218.052 and the HANG SENG ended 183.52 pts higher or +0.79% at 23459.05.
  • European equities are weaker, with the German Dax down 92.15 pts or -0.72% at 12733.2, FTSE 100 down 0.86 pts or -0.01% at 5896.44, CAC 40 down 18.08 pts or -0.37% at 4813.91 and Euro Stoxx 50 down 22.87 pts or -0.71% at 3191.21.
  • U.S. futures are sharply lower, with the Dow Jones mini down 270 pts or -0.99% at 27131, S&P 500 mini down 31.5 pts or -0.94% at 3301.5, NASDAQ mini down 129 pts or -1.14% at 11208.25.
