Post-NATO, G7 Blinken Presser @1115ET; DoD Confirms India 2+2

State Dep't confirms that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will hold a press conference at 1115ET (1615BST, 1715CET) today to discuss the outcomes of his visit to Brussels.

  • Following meetings Blinken tweets "The U.S. and our NATO Allies continue to strengthen our defenses and hold President Putin to account for his unprovoked and unjustified war against Ukraine. We will continue to support the Ukrainian people, as well as partners also affected by Russia’s actions."
  • Comes as Pentagon confirms a '2+2' meeting taking place on 11 April between Secretaries of Defense and State, Lloyd Austin III and Anthony Blinken, and their Indian counterparts Rajnath Singh and S. Jaishankar. US, and other Western-aligned nations, attempting to get the Modi gov't to take a more hard line stance on Russia, with Delhi having remained firmly on the fence so far during the conflict.
  • Statement says that the "Ministerial Dialogue will span the full breadth of the partnership – including defense, science and technology cooperation, climate, public health, and people-to-people ties...Bound by shared values and a common vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region, the United States and India will continue to chart an ambitious course in the bilateral defense partnership."
