PRESSURE
- Despite markets ignoring the weekend's military strikes, geo-political risks
remain which has seen USDJPY trigger bearish signals and could look set to
challenge the April 10 low (Y106.62).
- The US Dollar Index (DXY) touched monthly lows of 89.22 earlier today.
Seasonal patterns have also seen the DXY fall every April for the last 7 years.
- GBPUSD printed post-Brexit highs of $1.4377, EURUSD reclaimed $1.24 adding
further weight to the USD.
- The MNI FX Technical Signal Monitor is now generating overall bearish trend
signals for USDJPY. The latest CFTC data has seen JPY longs increase by 7k.
- Markets will be on alert for trade headlines when President Trump meets with
PM Abe later today.
RISK - Strong earnings from Johnson & Johnson, BofA & Goldman Sachs with further
release scheduled from IBM, Morgan Stanley & American Express could trigger
fresh risk appetite.
