POWER: End of Day Power Summary: FR-DE Oct Discount Widens On Week

POWER

The French-German Oct discount is on track to widen on the week, with their equivalent products also dropping from the previous week to track similar declines in EU ETS and gas. However, prices have remained green towards the end of Friday’s session, supported by the energy complex.

  • France Base Power OCT 24 up 4% at 58 EUR/MWh
  • Germany Base Power OCT 24 up 4.8% at 75.43 EUR/MWh
  • EUA DEC 24 up 1.1% at 63.54 EUR/MT
  • TTF Gas OCT 24 up 4.6% at 34.615 EUR/MWh
  • Rotterdam Coal OCT 24 up 1.4% at 112.4 USD/MT
  • TTF rebounded after dropping to its lowest since late July on reports of a potential Azerbaijan-Europe gas deal via Ukraine from January, though no agreement is finalized. NW Europe temperatures are forecasted to fall below normal from 27 Sept.
  • EU ETS Dec 24 is tracking price rises in TTF, with coal also supporting, while a lower clearing price on the latest weekly German EUA CAP3 at €63.18/MWh is possibly keeping gains limited.
  • The unplanned outage at the 1GW FR-IFA2 link between the UK-FR will now return on 27 Sep – a week later than expected.
  • EdF has restarted its 1.65GW Flamanville 3 nuclear reactor, after it was shutdown due to technical checks on 17 Sept.
  • And will disconnect its 1.33GW Cattenom 4 nuclear unit over 21-23 Sept for modulation purposes.
  • Allocated capacity in both the German-French direction in the October CBC Jao auction cleared higher on year, with offered volumes increasing only slightly.
  • Allocated capacity in the Belgium to French direction in the latest CBC auctions for delivery in October on JAO cleared up on the month, while the price in the other direction cleared lower.
  • Denmark’s 412MW Nordjyllandsaerket hard coal plant has had an unplanned outage, with the unit disconnected until 29 September.
