European PPA prices declined by 12.4% on the year in the third quarter of 2024 due to the decreasing inflation and market volatility, a LevelTen report showed, cited by Reuters.
- The 25% most competitive PPA prices for new-built capacity in Q3 across 22 European countries in a market-averaged index decreased to €76.17/MWh, down from €86.94/MWh in 2023.
- This was also down from €77.21/MWh in 2Q24.
- The German spot power index averaged €75.73/MWh in the third quarter this year, Epex Spot data showed.
- The report also stated the typical length for PPA is 11 years.
- "With current market conditions relatively stable, buyers may be wise to enter the market soon to secure the deals they need," the report stated.
- "The variety of offtake (buying) opportunities available to potential PPA buyers has perhaps never been greater," it added.
