POWER: Fortum Advanced Outright Power Hedges for 2024-2026

Fortum has advanced its outright power hedging for 2024-2026, with the average achieved price for 2024 slightly rising, it said. 

  • For 2024, Fortum had hedged 80% of its planned production of 47TWh/yr at €44/MWh as of the end of Q3. This compares to 75% hedged at €43/MWh as of the end of Q2.
  • For 2025, the utility had hedged 65% of its planned output at €42/MWh, up from 60% at the same price a quarter earlier.
  • Fortum had also hedged 40% of its planned generation in 2026 at an average price of €41/MWh. No hedging levels for 2026 were previously reported.
  • The firm’s hydropower generation in Q3 2024 stood at 4.7TWh, compared with 5.4TWh in the same quarter last year. Hydropower generation in Jan-Sept this year rose by 1.6TWh on the year to 15.6TWh.
  • Fortum’s nuclear generation rose to 5.8TWh in Q3 2024, compared with 5.6TWh in 2023. Jan-Sept nuclear generation rose by 0.2TWh on the year to 18.1TWh.
