Slovenia is planning to hold a referendum on the possible construction of a new nuclear reactor at the Krsko power plant on 24 November according to SeeNews. 

  • Slovenia’s infrastructure ministry in 2021 issued a permit for the construction of a second reactor at the existing facility. However, the decision received pushback from Austria.
  • The existing 696MW Krsko nuclear power plant is expected to run until 2043.
