POWER: Some of Poland’s Coal Fleet May Decommission Prematurely
POWER
Poland may decommission some coal-fired power plant earlier than expected amid higher renewable capacity, ending of subsidies and competition from gas-fired plants, Enea head Grzegorz Kinelski said, cited by Montel.
- “The older coal-fired units in our 4GW Kozienice plant are nearing their technical and perhaps also economical end,” Kinelski said.
- Recently, PGE announced plans to decommission the 900MW Rybnik coal-fired plant earlier than expected, with power generation from the plant will stop at the end of 2025, while district heating generation will be halted from August 2026.
