PPI Y/Y Falls for First Time Since 2016

  • Hungary's producer prices rose 0.7% m/m in August versus +0.9% in July, though the yearly figure fell for the first time since 2016 - by 2.3% from +1.3% in July. Prices for domestic sales climbed 8.6%, boosted by energy prices, while export prices fell 7.6%.
  • Prime Minister Orban met Marine Le Pen, the parliamentary group leader of the French National Rally party, in Budapest. Orban discussed with Le Pen the strengthening position of European right-wing parties in view of the 2024 European parliamentary elections, MTI report.
  • Cabinet Minister Gulyas will hold a briefing at 1100BST/1200CET following yesterday’s government meeting. There are no notable data releases left on the docket today. Unemployment rate figures will cross tomorrow (Est: 3.9%; Prior: 3.9%).
