President Erdogan Resumes In-Person Election Rallies

  • President Erdogan and his main opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu staged massive rival rallies on Sunday, just two weeks ahead of the elections on May 14. President Erdogan attended the event in-person, having missed rallies on Wednesday and Thursday due to illness. Recent polling gives Kilicdaroglu a narrow lead over the incumbent Erdogan.
  • President Erdogan said he hopes that the grain deal will be extended after its May 18 deadline, Turkey’s TRT-Turk quoted the President as saying. Erdogan spoke by phone with UN Secretary-General Antonio on Friday.
