President Pavel Calls For Talks On Pension Reforms, FinMin Holds Bond Auction

  • President Petr Pavel urged the governing coalition to enter negotiations with opposition parties on the controversial pension reforms. Following Pavel's meeting with representatives of the main opposition ANO party, his spokesperson said that the format of the discussions is still being discussed and the date is yet to be agreed, with the head of state planning to talk to Prime Minister Petr Fiala in the near future.
  • French President Emmanuel Macron used his visit to Prague to reaffirm the need for continued support for Ukraine and discuss nuclear energy with Czech leaders. The French EDF is one of two applicants running for Czechia's recently expanded expanded nuclear tender.

  • The Finance Ministry will auction CZK7bn of bonds maturing in 2032, 2034 and 2040, with deadline for bids set for 11:00GMT/12:00CET.
