Private LNG Terminal in Germany Receives First Cargo

The private LNG terminal in Lubmin on the Baltic coast in Germany received the first cargo on Wednesday according to operator Deutsche Regas.

  • The Seapeak Hispania vessel arrived carrying approximately 140k cubic meters of LNG from Egypt and will act as a floating storage unit.
  • The vessel will load LNG from tankers and store it temporarily before shuttling on small ships to the actual floating storage and regasification unit Neptune in Lubmin,
  • The regas capacity of the privately funded German terminal is up to 5.2bcm of natural gas.
  • Import flows from the new LNG terminal at Wilhelmshaven are expected to start on 22 Dec after the arrival of the FRSU vessel late last week. The German government has chartered a total of five FSRUs at a cost of €9.7bn.
