PSPP Net Purchases Pick Up Sharply

ECB

The ECB posted its strongest net asset purchases in a month in the week to May 13, rising E12.8bln (vs E8.6bln a week prior).

  • Net PSPP came in at E9.7bln, up sharply from E3.8bln prior; PEPP purchases slipped to E1.8bln from E2.8bln (albeit amid E4.1bln of redemptions). The sizes of the Covered Bond and ABS portfolios changed little, with CSPP up E1.1bln.
  • Despite net rises in the past two weeks, over the course of the past 4 weeks, overall net PEPP purchases have been completely flat (positive E4.8bln in the first two weeks of May, vs negative E4.6bln in the last two weeks of April) - in keeping with the end of net asset purchases under PEPP in March.
