Putin Speaks On Regional Security, Ukraine & Relations w/Europe

Speaking at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Vlaidmir Putin claims that the Western model for global security [meaning NATO] doesn't work.Says that the "selfishness and arrogance of Western states has led to the current state of affairs, the world has come close to the point of no return." With regard to the G7 agreement on using profits from frozen Russian funds to provide a loan to Ukraine, Putin says the 'theft' of Russian assets will not go unpunished.
- Putin: “Yes, now Russia’s relations with the EU , with a number of European states, have deteriorated. And I have emphasized this many times, not through our fault,” Dismisses reports of Russia wanting to attack Europe as nonsense, saying it is an excuse for an arms race. Claims that the Euro-Atlantic security system has collapsed with a new one required. Says that Europe can preserve itself as a 'centre of development' if it has good relations with Russia.
- Says that there is a need to start a broad discussion of collective security guarantees in Eurasia and reduce the presence of extra-regional military forces. Putin says that the new security architecture would be open to European NATO states.
- Claims that the war in Ukraine is not a war between two states, but is 'as a result of the aggressive policies of the West'. Says that the increase in weapons production in Europe will not be needed after the war and will not ensure security.
