UK DATA
UK DATA: Q1 Current Account Deficit Stg17.720bn Vs Stg19.537bn Q4
-------------------------------------------------------------
The UK current account narrowed stg1.8bn from a revised stg19.5bn
(3.8% of GDP) in Q4 to stg17.7bn (3.4% of GDP) in Q1. This was primarily
driven by narrowings in the trade and primary deficits, partially
offsetting a widening in the secondary account. The total trade deficit
narrowed to stg3.8bn in Q1 2018, down from stg5.7bn in Q4 2017, while
the primary deficit narrowed stg1.5bn to stg8.1bn. Working in the
opposite direction, the secondary income balance widened to -stg5.8bn
from -stg4.2bn. This was the fourth consecutive quarter the current
