SOUTH AFRICA: Q3 Current Account Balance Eyed, SARB Gov Speaks At Conference

- ActionSA said it was still waiting for a response from the African National Congress (ANC) after offering to strike coalition pacts in Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni. The two parties already govern together in Tshwane but ActionSA is looking to extend cooperation with the ANC to other metropolitan areas in Gauteng.
- South Africa's High Court ruled that the government's plan to procure MW1,500 of new coal-fired power was unlawful because of its impact on public health. The case was filed by three environmental activist groups.
- South Africa will report its current account balance for Q3 at 09:00GMT/11:00SAST. Later in the day, October electricity production/consumption data will hit the wires at 11:00GMT/13:00SAST.
- SARB Governor Lesetja Kganyago will deliver a keynote speech at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Annual Conference at 11:00GMT/13:00SAST.
