FOMC: *** Quick intermeeting history to clarify clarify non-scheduled rate cuts
by the FOMC: the last was announced October 8 '08 (effective October 9 '08) when
the FOMC cut the funds rate by 50bp to 1.5. 
- The first intermeeting move of 2008 was on JAN 22, 2008 -75bp to 3.50%,
followed by another 50bp cut to 3.0% on the scheduled meeting on January 29-30,
then -75bp cut on March 18 scheduled FOMC to 2.25% and 25bp on April 29-30 to
2.0. Funds rate held steady for three meetings until the October 8, 2008
emergency move.
- The FOMC followed with another 50bps cut on the scheduled October 28-29 2008
meeting. The FOMC finished 2008 with another 75bps cut to 0.25 at the scheduled
December 16, 2008 FOMC after starting the year at 4.25%!
