Rappporteur Says Adjusted Fuels Bill Now Sees BRL38.75B Impact

  • Senator Fernando Bezerra detailed contents of the so-called fuels bill after several delays as lawmakers debated how to attend to all families on the waiting list for the Auxilio Brasil cash transfer program in addition to giving out vouchers for diesel and cooking gas to some groups. (BBG)
  • Some 1.6 million families will be added to the program, Bezerra said on Wednesday morning, which will raise the cost of the bill to 38.75 billion reais ($7.4 billion), from 34.8 billion reais before.
    • Bezerra, the rapporteur of the bill in the Senate, said he is confident senators can vote on it today.
