RBNZ Dated OIS Firmer After Q2 CPI Upside Surprise

RBNZ dated OIS is 1-6bp firmer across meetings after Q2 CPI prints higher than expected at +1.1% q/q (+6.0% y/y) versus expectations of +0.9% (+5.9% y/y) and +1.2% (+6.7% y/y) prior. The Q2 annual rate was the lowest since Q4 2021.

  • The quarterly rise was in line with the RBNZ’s forecasts with the annual rate slightly lower.
  • Terminal OCR expectations firm to 5.65% from 5.64% yesterday.
