UK: Re tonight's Brexit withdrawal vote, Telegraph's Steven Swinford: "[Speaker]
Bercow has selected FOUR amendments: Corbyn amendment, SNP amendment, Edward
Leigh amendment and John Baron amendment. NOT Murrison or Swire"
- Corbyn's would remove all the words from the government's motion and replace
it with Labour's Brexit position
- Baron's: "The House will add a condition to the Withdrawal Agreement that half
of the financial settlement is withheld until after a free trade deal is
secured."
- SNP/Plaid Cymru: "The House rejects the Withdrawal Agreement in line with the
views of the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly and calls on the government
to extend Article 50."
- Leigh amendment: Backstop arrangement should only be temporary and that under
international law, it cannot be made permanent.
- Murrison's would have established a sunset clause for the Irish backstop;
Swire`s would require UK Parliamentary approval before the backstop would be
implemented.
