REFINING: IOC Expects Major Refining Projects to Complete in Late 2025

Indian Oil Corp expects to complete the expansion of its refineries in Panipat, Gujarat and Barauni by December of next year according to Reuters sources on Tuesday.

  • For Panipat: The refinery’s capacity is being expanded to 25m tonnes/year from the current 15m tonnes/year and build a 450,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant among other downstream units at the site.
  • For Gujarat: from 13.7 MMTPA to 18 MMTPA along with its integration to lube and petrochemical production unit. (Previously expected mid-2024).
  • For Barauni: refinery in the state of Bihar from 6.0 million tonnes per annum to 9 million tonnes.
  • IOC maintenance: hydrocracker and some secondary units at the Gujarat refinery for revamp by this fiscal year-end. Gasoline-making unit at the Barauni refinery by the first to second quarter of the next fiscal year (Reuters sources).
