Relief Demand For Peso As Risk Firms

Lower US yields provided a stabilising environment yesterday and relief demand for the Mexican peso. MXN led global outperformance along with TRY, with USDMXN trading as low as 21.1289, nearly 3% off Monday's highs.

  • Foreign Minister Ebrard confirmed Mexico will receive 3million one-shot Cansino vaccine doses today, which will be rolled out within days.
  • Finance Minister Arturo Herrera said with new arrivals of coronavirus vaccines he sees daily jabs reaching 500,000, El Economista reported. He added Mexico has agreements for 234m vaccines.
  • Today, Mexico's lower house is expected to pass a bill that would legalize marijuana, before it gets sent back to the Senate.
