Republicans Holds Slight Edge Over Democrats In Voter Enthusiasm

US

A new survey from Gallup has found that voter enthusiasm is currently around the average for a presidential election - based on data since the 2000 election cycle - with former President Donald Trump holding a slight edge in ethusiasm.

  • Gallup: “Fifty-four percent of Americans say they are more enthusiastic about voting this year than in previous elections, while 41% are less enthusiastic. The resulting 13-percentage-point spread is about average for net enthusiasm at this stage of a presidential campaign. Net enthusiasm for voting was greater at similar points in the 2020, 2008 and 2004 presidential primary seasons than it is today, but was lower than now in 2000, 2012 and 2016.”
  • Semafor notes that Trump is slightly edging enthusiasm: “59% of registered Republicans and leaners said they’re more enthusiastic to cast a ballot this year, compared to 35% who are less so. For Democrats, the numbers are closer — 55% to 42%.”
