- Retail sales are expected to rise by 1.0% based on the Bloomberg consensus and
an MNI survey of analysts. This follows a decline of 0.2% in February.
-Analysts tend to overestimate headline retail sales slightly more often than
they underestimate.
- Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales are expected to rise by 0.7% according
to the Bloomberg consensus and 0.8% according to the MNI survey.
- Not seasonally adjusted industry motor vehicle sales were up sharply in March,
while AAA reported gasoline prices rose solidly in mid-March from one month
earlier.
