Rhine Rains Provide Some Relief For Industrial Supply Chains

In a seemingly rare bit of good news for European manufacturers - heavy rains in recent days mean that the level of the Rhine River at the Kaub waypoint has risen from 32cm to 114cm over the last couple of sessions.

  • That was a headline-making concern a couple of weeks ago because at the lowest levels, the river becomes effectively impassable for the majority of barges.
  • So, some relief for freight shipping / supply chains, and helping avert another downside factor for already beleaguered German manufacturers.
