Rotterdam Refinery Fire Supporting Gasoil Margins

Fuel output from BP’s Rotterdam refinery may be hit after a fire earlier on one of the crude processing units which is now contained.

  • The refinery has two 200,000 bpd crude units – one of which is understood to be impacted.
  • Fire brigades have left the refinery after putting the fire out.
  • Other major Northwest European refineries are set for maintenance shortly which will tighten fuel production in the region at the same time Russian oil product imports have recently been banned.
  • Gasoil margins are finding strength on news of the fire as the market awaits the severity of the incident.
