RTRS: Kremlin Does Not Rule Out Biden-Putin Call/Meeting

Reuters reporting that Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov has stated that there could be a call or meeting between President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden as tensions at the Russo-Ukrainian border remain at fever pitch.

  • Peskov states that US sanctions threats do not help the situation and infact are destabilising the security situation in Europe.
  • Says that the sanctions threat could embolden Ukraine to try to solve the issue militarily.
  • Refuses to comment on some Russian MPs calls for Putin to recognise the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in the Donbas as sovereign entities.
  • Says that there is some evidence that NATO is willing to discuss some security issues with Russia, but not in the areas most important to Moscow.
