Russia And South Africa Discuss Energy Cooperation And LNG Shipments

Russian and South African government representatives have discussed the potential for greater mutually beneficial cooperation in energy sector, according to Interfax.

  • Russian Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov said that they were considering the possibility of organizing the supply of Russian LNG for the effective operation of new generating capacities in South Africa.
  • The meeting took place between Mochalnikov and the South African Ambassador to Russia Mzuvukile Jeff Maqetuk in the run up to the annual meeting of BRICS Energy Ministers scheduled for Aug. 18 in Johannesburg.
