Russia has muscled into the Brazilian diesel market after Feb 5 sanctions banned flows into Europe.
- Russia is now the main supplier of diesel into Brazil according to Vortexa (see chart) – the bulk of volumes used to arrive from the US Gulf.
- Prior to Feb/March of this year – diesel imports from Russia into Brazil were almost non-existent.
- The US is responding by sending surging volumes to Europe to replace lost Russian barrels.
