Russia: No Alternative To Successful Conclusion Of Vienna JCPoA Talks

In response to a tweet from Politico journalist Stephanie Liechtenstein - which linked to a story stating that JCPoA negotiators were in a 'somber if not outright gloomy' mood - Russia's permanent representative to international organisations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov tweets: "Count Russia out, please. We are fully aware of all the problems at the Vienna Talks but remain cautiously optimistic. The reason for this cautious optimism is very simple: we have no reasonable and acceptable alternative to a successful conclusion of the talks on JCPOA."

  • Talks between Iran and the JCPoA signatories (China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK) are set to resume today after a five-month break following the inauguration of Ebrahim Raisi as Iranian president in August.
