Russia Plans Near Zero Diesel Exports in October

Russia plans to reduce diesel exports from its key western ports to almost zero in October after the government banned overseas exports to combat surging domestic prices, according to Bloomberg.

  • Current scheduled loadings from Russian ports on the Black and Baltic Sea are around 223k mt in October, according to industry data seen by Bloomberg.
  • However, that includes 210k mt from Belarus to be loaded in Primorsk and 12.8k mt tons loading in Novorossiysk for customers in the Eurasian Economic Union, all of which are exempt from the ban.
  • Russia announced a ban on diesel and gasoline exports on Sep. 21 with a view to reducing domestic supply shortages and combat rising prices.
