Russia's Lukoil Gets Approval for 250kbd Development in Iraq

Russia’s Lukoil plans to produce 250,000 bpd at the Eridu oilfield in Iraq and has regulatory approval from the country’s officials today.

  • The field is being developed jointly by Lukoil and Iraqi state-owned Thi-Qar Oil Company (TOC).
  • Lukoil had previously said they expect production at the field to start in 2024.
  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was in Iraq in February to discuss further energy cooperation between the two nations.
