Russia's Tuapse Refinery Out Till at Least End Feb: Bloomberg Sources

REFINING

Rosneft’s Tuapse refinery, damaged by a drone strike on Thursday, is expected to remain shut through at least February according to Bloomberg reports.

  • Other sources say the work may take even longer after preliminary assessments.
  • The refinery is a major producer of diesel and fuel oil which it exports via a nearby Black Sea terminal.
  • The Tuapse plant processed over 180,000 bpd of crude oil in the first 17 days of January, or more than 3% of the nation’s total crude-processing volume according to a Bloomberg source.
  • It exported all 57,000 bpd of diesel over that time – 8.5% of Russian fuel sold over that time.
  • It represented ~10% of Russian fuel oil exports in 2023.
