Russia To Resume Participation In Black Sea Grain Initiative-Defence Min

Russia's Defence Ministry has confirmed that the country will resume its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, having 'paused' its participation on Saturday 29 Oct.

  • IFX reports comments from the Defence Ministry stating that it had been able to gain 'written assurance' from Kyiv that the Black Sea 'grain corridors' would not be used for military operations against Russia.
  • Comes after calls between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. Turkey has become one of, if not the, key interlocutor between Moscow and Kyiv. All talk at present on grain initiatives, with little-to-no indication of any talks, or even talk about talks between Kyiv and Moscow on de-escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
