Russian Envoy Summoned Over Spying Arrest

The Italian gov't has summoned the Russian Ambassador Sergey Razov over the arrest of an Italian naval officer who is accused of handing over 'confidential documents', while the Russian diplomat who is said to have received them has been detained is set to be expelled (he cannot be arrested due to having diplomatic immunity).

  • Russian state news outlet RIA reports the Russian gov't as stating that it hopes the detention of the diplomat will not damage bilateral relations.
