Russian Gas Production Slumps While LNG Production Increases

Russia’s natural gas production decreased by 13% year-on-year to 474 billion cubic meters in January-October 2022, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

  • In October, Russian gas production amounted to 45.7 billion cubic meters, which is 20.3% down year-on-year but 17% up month-on-month.
  • Through January-October, production of LNG rose to 26.9 million tons, 10.6% up year-on-year.
  • Gazprom had previously reported that through January-October 2022, it reduced gas production by 18.6% year-on-year to 344 billion cubic meters.
