Russian Oil Product Shipments Rising on Surging Naphtha and Fuel Oil

Russian refined fuel exports have strengthened into the first third of September prompted by higher fuel oil and naphtha exports while diesel has dipped.

  • Petroleum product shipments jumped to 2.8 million barrels a day during the first 10 days of September, the highest rate since March according to Vortexa figures.
  • Diesel and gasoil exports, which account for more than 40% of the Russian fuel flows, slipped by 8% from August levels to the lowest in four months at about 972,000 bpd.
  • Russian naphtha exports surged this month to about 700,000 bpd over the first 10 days – the highest since early 2016.
  • Fuel oil exports - accounting for around a third of fuel flows - jumped by more than 50% m/m to around 919,000 bpd - the highest since February 2022.
