Russian Refinery Runs Slump on Ban and Maintenance

REFINING

Russian refineries cut processing rates in early October to lowest in 19-weeks.

  • Primary crude processing averaged 5.16 million barrels a day in the first four days of the month according to a Bloomberg source.
  • The rate dipped by 220,00 bpd from September’s average.
  • Runs have been impacted by maintenance and the temporary oil product ban that has now largely been lifted for diesel but remains for gasoline.
  • The lifting off the ban is now understood to be encouraging refinery runs now that a fear of domestic overstocking has been alleviated according to earlier comments by Novak.
