Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 to Ship First Cargo Early 2024

Russia is scheduled to start commissioning of the first train of the Arctic 2 LNG facility by late-2023 and the first cargoes will be shipped early next year according to Deputy PM Alexander Novak, cited by Tass.

  • The first train will have a design capacity of 6.6mn tons/yr in the first quarter of 2024, according to Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson.
  • The three lines of the facility will have a nameplate capacity of 19.8mn tons/yr.
  • The second and third trains are expected to start production in 2024 and 2026, respectively, Mikhelson said previously.
  • Earlier this month, Japan’s Organisation for Metals and Energy Security said that US sanctions on the US of transshipment terminals for LNG are creating logistical difficulties for Japan’s planned deliveries from the facility.
