NATGAS: Russia’s Gas Flows to Iran to Start with Flows of 2 Bcm/y: Putin
NATGAS
Russia’s gas supplies to Iran may start with flows of around 2 bcm/y, according to Russia’s President Putin, possibly rising to as high as 55 bcm/y.
- Work on constructing the pipeline to Iran was continuing and while there are difficulties, such as pricing parameters, the project will be completed, Putin said after talks with Iran’s President.
- He added that the flows will be small to begin with, up to 2 bcm/y, but could increase over time up to 55 bcm/y.
- He also said there is the possibility for cooperation between the countries in the oil sector.
- Having lost all of its pipeline flows to Europe apart from via TurkStream, Russian is looking for new markets to supply, either via increasing LNG export capacity, or via new pipeline markets, such as to Iran and China.
