South Korea, the world’s third-largest LNG buyers, imported 3.344m mt in Feb. 2025, down 21% on the year, according to Interfax.

  • This is the lowest monthly import volume in the past five months, and the lowest February level in the last eight years.
  • Korean buyers’ activity may have been under pressure due to higher gas prices and the pull of cargoes towards Europe rather than APAC.
  • The largest supplier was Australia at 958k mt, down 18%, followed by Malaysia 809k mt, down 62%, Qatar 578k mt, down 39%. Russia delivered 190k mt to South Korea.
