S. Korea & U.S. Held Live-Fire Drill Near Inter-Korean Border

SOUTH KOREA

South Korea and the United States held a large-scale live-fire exercise near the inter-Korean border, Yonhap News Agency reports citing the South's military. The drill lasted for four days and coincided with North Korea's test-launch of four cruise missiles on Wednesday.

  • Tensions in the Korean peninsula remain heightened as North Korea responded to the joint U.S.-South Korea exercises by intensified missile tests.
  • U.S. Army Col. Brandon Anderson told reporters that "everything we're doing right now is defensive in nature, we are not being offensive."
