Scholz-We Can Now Say Winter Energy Supply Is Secure

Comments from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hitting wires. Scholz states that, "We can now say that this winter's energy supply is secure", adding that the country is prepared for the possibility that Russia halts its oil deliveries.

  • Regarding the refinery at Schwedt in the northeast of the country, placed in a trusteeship by the German gov't that effectively removes control from majority shareholder Rosneft, Scholz states that there is a plan to set up a start-up location there that should mean redundancies will be avoided.
  • On trusteeship, Scholz states that "This step secures theSchwedt refinery....the future package for Schwedt has a volume of USD1bn". Scholz: "It is important for us to do everything to ensure the energy security of Germany".
